Rope Bed

Rope bed. From Pembroke, Maine. Gift of Diane Glidden whose family was from Pembroke, Maine. Bed may have been made in Charlotte, Maine.(M) Information from Diane Glidden: From: Comcast Subject: AntiqueropebedfromPembroke Date: July 20, 2015 at 10:53 AM To: dear Hugh, here is the information about the bed that I brought when I was a child growing up in Pembroke in the early 50\\\\\\\'s the bed was stored in a bedroom in a deep closet. I lived with my parents and my little sister in my grandmother\\\\\\\'s house on Lincoln Ave.(now Little Falls rd.). she was Harriet Wilder Linnell and it was the house in which she grew up and then raised her own children . Her grandfather John Mincher came over from England in 1844with his wife and small son to work in the Pembroke iron works. He built the house soon after that. my grandmother passed on in 1958. The house was sold in 1965---80 acres of land, the large house, and 2 barns went for $1500 (unbelievable!). It was taken down In the mid 1970\\\\\\\'s and the entire hill was sold off for gravel. We still have land on Leighton Pt. rd. Which is where we stay when we are there. Art Carter thinks the bed may have been made in Charlotte because it looks just like one that was made in the factory there. I will send you the family story of the. Wilder sand Minchers when I learn how to use my new laptop. diane Glidden And on Leighton Pt. Rd. Which is where we stay when we are there. W
