Objective: Develop a combined contemporary Parish Map and Bird’s Eye View of Eastport that will provide s visual resource and illustration for Eastport’s sense and quality of place.
Building on the success of workshops by Sue Clifford of Common Ground, UK, offered throughout the greater Passamaquoddy Bay region during the summer of 2009, an initiative began to undertake the development of a combined Parish Map and Bird’s Eye View for Eastport. Kirsten Sparenborg of the University of Virginia is currently drawing the combined Parish Map and Bird’s Eye View of Eastport. She spent a month in Rome, Italy early in 2012 to study the history of bird’s eye views over time. A small sample of this work in progress is shown in the image above. The Bird’s Eye View will be framed with illustrations that reflect Eastport’s sense and quality of place. The Parish Map and Bird’s Eye View of Eastport is expected to be completed by the spring of 2017.
