THE RESTORATION of the TIMA building is a costly and difficult project, but one that is
essential for the safe and secure housing of our collections, for the display of
rotating exhibitions, for the development of our printmaking facilities, and for
public events. The restoration includes the development of the Passamaquoddy Room
displaying the names of the various communities of the greater Passamaquoddy
region. | EVERY EFFORT is being made to ensure that the restoration work meets
national standards as reviewed by the Maine Historic Preservation Commission.
The restoration is made all the more important as the building,
shortly before our purchase of it in 2002, was threatened with destruction and
was placed on Maine Preservation's Most Endangered Buildings in Maine list in 1998.
| OPPORTUNITIES abound in our Bold Step
campaign, at a variety of levels, to contribute to the successful restoration of
the TIMA building. Gifts of all sizes make a
difference. Please consider sending your contribution today to: Tides Institute &
