   HE TIDES INSTITUTE & MUSEUM OF ART (TIMA) is actively
developing a growing collection of original artwork by artists and photographers,
both contemporary and historical, with a focus on those with ties to the
Passamaquoddy Region or who represent the flow of artists along the northeast
coast, from the eastern states of the U.S. and from the interior provinces of
Canada, to the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. On occasion and where appropriate,
such as with TIMA's interest in printmaking, artwork from elsewhere in the world
is included to suggest ties to broader art trends. TIMA is also building an
extended database of these artists and their artwork which will consist of both
image and text files. Over time, much of this information will be available on
this website. In addition, TIMA is assembling a collection of art reference books
and related manuscript materials. For the moment, a link to an online exhibition
of 100 works of art drawn from TIMA collections can be found through this link:

its embryonic stages and is now very incomplete. We welcome your suggestions and
