Some old Eastport Houses,

AND THEIR OCCUPANTS.—A FAMILIAR RETROSPECT.

PAPER NO. 2&
...
Crossing again to the north side we come to the house built in 1806 by Samuel Wheeler, and occupied by him until his death. He and Aaron Hayden were both deacons of the Calvanistic Baptist church, and were both presidents of the Frontier Bank the former succeeding the latter. Largely by their aid the new church on Washington street was built, and the society removed to it from the old church on High street. I officiated as groomsman when the daughter of the house was married to my playmate. Afterwards the house became the property and home of Bion Bradbury while collector of the district, and was changed by the substitution of a patch[?typo, “pitch”] roof, and it has been still further modernized and extended by its present owner Charles Jackson.
