JOHN BUCKNAM HOUSE. This two and one-half story center chimney Colonial house was built forĀ· John Bucknam in 1792. John Bucknam came to Township 13 in the late 1760s, and bought large areas ofland next to the Pleasant River. He built lumber mills and dwelling houses, and helped to start the lumbering business in Columbia Falls. John Bucknam was a captain in the local militia, and . died during or soon after the construction of his residence. This wooden clapboarded gabled roof house has a narrow llve light transom over the trom door, windows with twelve-over-twelve lights, and an ell attached to the rear. The section of the chimney above the roof has been rebuilt and modified. The John Bucknam House is situated on Main Street, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. AFN
