The Wabanaki Confederacy (Abenakis, Penobscots, Passamaquoddies, Maliseets, and Micmacs) held an alliance with the French, until the Battle of Quebec in 1759, where the French were defeated. The defeat weakened the Wabanaki’s position, and in 1760 representatives from the Wabanaki Confederacy went to Halifax to sign treaties with the British.
